Project Description: | Due to the previous experiences of Kim Kock, P.E. with planning and design of streetscape improvement projects in Colorado Springs (Downtown Demonstration Project – Pikes Peak and Tejon, Colorado Avenue Gateway Redevelopment Project) the Pueblo Downtown Association hired NorthStar Engineering and Surveying, Inc. to prepare Conceptual Development Plans for Santa Fe Avenue between 4th and 8th Streets. That process involved numerous meetings with various project stakeholders and City staff over a period of approximately 18 months. NorthStar was subsequently hired by the City Planning Department to prepare final construction documents for Phases 1 and 2 of the project which included: public outreach, pedestrian safety and vehicular speed control improvements, handicap accessibility improvements, drainage improvements, utility relocations, street furniture and lighting, hardscape improvements, and landscaping. |

Project Description: | NorthStar Engineering and Surveying, Inc., as part of the Short Elliot Henrickson and Design Studios West design team, was hired by the City of Pueblo to prepare detailed site development and drainage improvement documents for this 310 acre regional park which includes approximately 140,000 square feet of trails, a pedestrian bridge, shoreline/fishing improvements, water quality and detention improvements, recreational improvements, and roadway and parking facilities. NorthStar was responsible for preliminary site analysis and predesign topographic and improvement surveys, as well as preparation of design documents and specifications for site and drainage improvements. |

Project Description: | NorthStar Engineering and Surveying, Inc. was retained by Colorado State Parks to field locate and map all wet utilities (approximately 20 miles) at Lake Pueblo State Park. NorthStar then developed a working Geographical Information System (G.I.S.) model of all wet utilities at the park. Modeling software was then used to analyze the existing water system for deficiencies and improvement alternatives. NorthStar was subsequently retained to design recommended water system improvements including: piping, valve and fire hydrant replacements including line size upgrades, elimination of asbestos cement pipe, and system expansions to campground areas; remediation of existing water storage tanks and analysis of alternative system connective points; chemical feed system upgrades; booster pump station reconstruction/reconfiguration; backflow prevention improvements; and control system upgrades. Additionally, NorthStar was retained to prepare permit applications and design wastewater system improvements at two separate Wastewater Treatment Plants and three sewage lift stations. All wet utility improvements were designed to allow for construction over multiple project phases. |
